If working from home in Greece, is a separate policy or document required?

In Greece, if an employee is working from home, a separate agreement is required between the employer and the employee.   • Any restrictions on the use of equipment or internet tools, along with related sanctions.
  • Agreements on stand-by time, including time limits and response timeframes.
  • Health and safety conditions during teleworking and procedures for reporting work accidents.
  • Obligations and procedures for protecting professional and personal data.

These details can be communicated through the company's intranet or a general business policy if not specific to an individual employee. Teleworking arrangements may be full-time, part-time, or combined with on-site work. Teleworking employees possess the same rights and obligations as those working on-site. Employers must respect employee privacy and adhere to personal data laws in performance assessments, prohibiting the use of webcams for this purpose.

Employers must also ensure employees are informed about health and safety policies, including workspace requirements, computer screen usage, breaks, and measures for exercising the right to disconnect. During teleworking, it is assumed that the workspace complies with necessary specifications and that employees adhere to health and safety regulations. Work hours and the configuration of teleworking and on-site work must be reported to the Labour Inspection Office using the online platform "ERGANI."
