In the Republic of Korea, the law allows employees to take up to 18 months of leave for maternity protection, applicable to pregnant female employees, or for child care. This leave is available to any male or female employee with a child who is 12 years old or younger.

Female employees in the Republic of Korea are entitled to 90 days of paid maternity leave. For multiple births, employees are entitled to 120 days of maternity leave. At least 45 days (60 days for multiple pregnancies) must be taken after childbirth.
