In Malaysia, employees are entitled to paid sick leave as follows, provided they submit a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner:
- Employees with less than 2 years of employment receive 14 days of paid sick leave per calendar year.
- Employees with more than 2 but less than 5 years of employment receive 18 days of paid sick leave per calendar year.
- Employees with 5 years or more of employment receive 22 days of paid sick leave per calendar year.
Additionally, if hospitalization is medically certified as necessary in a given calendar year, the employee is entitled to 60 days of hospitalization leave. This leave is separate from and in addition to the standard sick leave.
