Our Employee Handbook in Georgia allows employees to save up to 5 vacation days per year. These saved days must be used within 5 years of the end of the vacation year in which they were saved. Employees must use their accrued vacation days before using any saved days. Typically, any unused Paid Time Off (PTO) must be paid out when employment ends. However, there is a 12-month limit for filing labor claims, so PTO older than 12 months cannot be claimed. If PTO was requested but denied, it can only be carried over once.
