  • Eligible employees may receive a lump sum from the social security system that is equivalent to full pay for the remaining days of maternity leave beyond the initial 45 days.
  • Customers have the discretion to pay beyond the minimum 45 days if they choose to do so.

What is the process for applying for maternity leave in Thailand?

To apply for maternity leave in Thailand, a pregnant employee must follow these steps:

  • Notify Velocity Global Thailand of the pregnancy upon intending to take maternity leave.
  • Submit a leave application at least 30 days in advance if the leave is for child delivery.
  • In case of an emergency where advance notice cannot be given, the employee should notify Velocity Global Thailand as soon as possible.

How long is the paternity leave in Thailand?

In Thailand, an employee is entitled to up to 15 days of spousal leave to assist a lawful spouse who has given birth. This leave can be taken after the birth of the child, either by requesting in advance or on the day the leave begins. The leave must be utilized within 90 days from the spouse’s childbirth. The employer is required to pay full wages for the duration of this 15-day spousal leave.

How is paternity leave payment calculated in Thailand?

There is no provision for compulsory paternity leave for private-sector employees in Thailand.
