What are the eligibility rules for maternity leave in Pakistan?

In Pakistan, a female employee is eligible for maternity leave if she has been employed for a period of not less than 4 months immediately preceding the day on which she delivers a child. The maternity benefit is paid at the rate of the salary last paid and covers:

  • The period of 6 weeks immediately preceding and including the day on which she delivers a child.
  • Each day of 6 weeks following that day.
