Notice Periods in Croatia

What is the required notice period for an employee resignation in Croatia?

In Croatia, the required notice period for an employee resignation is typically outlined in the employment agreement and should comply with the minimum statutory notice periods provided by Croatian employment laws. These statutory notice periods vary based on several factors:

  • Employees terminated during a probationary period have a minimum notice period of 7 days.
  • Employees with over 20 years of service and more than 55 years of age, terminated for redundancy, have a minimum notice period of 4 months.

It is not uncommon for parties to agree on a one-month notice period in the employment agreement. However, if the minimum statutory notice period required by law is longer than the agreed notice period, the statutory notice period prevails when the employment agreement is terminated by the employer.
