When setting up a Contractor Management account, an authorized representative (such as a controller or officer as designated by the company bylaws) must complete certain information.
Some fields will come from your existing company setup within the Global Work Platform, and some additional fields will need to be filled out.
The first section will ask you the account type you are setting up, along with the country in which your business is incorporated. This question will determine the type of validation requirements that will be used to verify your business and help ensure that the correct tax documentation is provided
For example, in the United States, businesses use an Employer Identification Number (EIN), while Canadian businesses require a Business Number (BN). This is also important in establishing the correct tax forms that will be necessary in the Customer and Contractor relationship.
An authorized representative must enter your legal business name and select your tax classification, such as Sole Proprietorship, LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, or Partnership. Depending on your Account type you will have to enter other information. In the United States, you'll also need to include your Employer Identification Number (EIN), your business industry, and your business email and phone number. Make sure to mention how many W-2 employees you have. Lastly, provide your business address and the state or territory where your company is incorporated.
Regulations require us to gather information from the Authorized Representative and any Beneficial Owners (if applicable). This includes their legal first and last name, job title or occupation, phone number, email address, and ownership stake in the business (which can be 0%). We’ll also need their date of birth, individual tax ID or Social Security Number, and personal address. Please note your Social Security number will used once for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) checks and will not be stored in the system for security reasons.
