A female employee in Vietnam is entitled to six months of paid maternity leave. This includes prenatal and postnatal leave, with no more than two months of the total leave being taken before the child is born. Additionally, a woman is entitled to five days of paid leave for prenatal medical appointments.
If the employee gives birth to more than one child, she is entitled to an extra 30 days of leave for each additional child.
In Vietnam, maternity leave payment is calculated as 100% of the average salary on which social insurance premiums are calculated during the last 6 months before the employee goes on leave.
