What is the process for applying for sick leave in Italy?

The process for applying for sick leave in Italy involves several important steps:

  • The supported employee must inform both their immediate superior and Pebl as soon as possible if they are unable to work due to sickness. Failure to notify within 1 day of falling sick may result in the absence being deemed unjustified unless serious reasons prevent the employee from doing so, and evidence of those serious reasons is provided.

  • Even for 1 day of sick leave, the supported employee must:

- Visit a doctor.

- Request the doctor to release an electronic sick note.

- Send the protocol number of the sick note to support@hellopebl.com.

  • During sick leave, the supported employee is required to be at home and available every day between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm and between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to allow for possible medical inspections requested by the employer.

Failure to comply with these requirements might result in the absence being considered unjustified and could lead to disciplinary actions.
