Other Benefits in Colombia

What other statutory benefits are available in Colombia, excluding health and pension benefits, bonuses, additional salaries, and allowances?

In Colombia, employees who earn ordinary salaries are entitled to the following statutory fringe benefits:

  • Unemployment aid: Equivalent to 1 month of salary for each calendar year of service, and proportionally for fractions of a year. This benefit must be paid into the fund chosen by the employee before February 15 of each year.

  • Interest on unemployment aid: Calculated at 12% of the unemployment aid amount annually. The calculation must be done on December 31 of every year, with direct payment to the employee no later than January 31 of the following year.

  • Services premium: Equivalent to 1 month of salary, payable in two installments of 15 days each—the first in June and the second in December.

  • Transportation allowance: This amount is set annually by the government and must be paid to employees earning less than 2 statutory monthly minimum salaries.

  • Provision of work clothing and footwear: Provided in April, August, and December to workers earning less than 2 statutory monthly minimum salaries. This benefit includes clothing and footwear separate from the requirements of industrial safety gear.
