What are the eligibility rules for sick leave in Sweden?
From the eighth day of the sick leave period, the employer is entitled to ask for a doctor's certificate from the employee.
What is the process for applying for sick leave in Sweden?
To apply for sick leave in Sweden, supported employees should adhere to the following process:
- Day 1: The supported employee must call their immediate superior before 9:30 a.m. and register the sick leave day directly on our Global Work Platform™.
- Days 2-14: The supported employee is required to provide daily updates to their immediate superior and continue registering the sick leave on our Global Work Platform™.
- Day 7: The supported employee must visit a doctor and send a copy of the sick certificate to the Velocity Global Sweden representative. This is necessary from the 8th day of sickness and onwards.
- Days 15-90: The supported employee must apply for sick allowance at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Swedish: Försäkringskassan) if they wish to be reimbursed for this period.
