What other statutory benefits are available in Italy, excluding health and pension benefits, bonuses, additional salaries, and allowances?
Under Italian law, parental leave is compensated by the Italian Social Security Agency (INPS). From 2024 onwards, employees who go on parental leave to care for their children aged 12 or below are entitled to the following indemnities:
- 80% of their salary for the first month of leave.
- 60% of their salary for the second month of leave (exceptionally, for 2024 only, the second month will be indemnified at 80% of the employees' salary).
- 30% of their salary after the second month of leave.
This enhanced parental leave can be utilized alternatively by either parent.
