Health Benefits in Malaysia

What are the statutory health insurance benefits in Malaysia?

In Malaysia, the Social Security Organization (SOCSO) provides statutory health insurance benefits for employees who suffer from employment injuries or occupational diseases arising out of and in the course of employment. The coverage under this scheme includes:

  • Work accidents
  • Commuting accidents
  • Emergency accidents
  • Occupational diseases

These benefits include free medical treatment at SOCSO's panel clinics or government clinics/hospitals until the employee is fully recovered; temporary disablement benefit is paid for the period when the employee is on medical leave certified by a doctor for not less than 4 days, including the day of the accident and others based on the injuries and conditions.
