Employers in Singapore are required to purchase and maintain work injury compensation insurance for employees engaged in manual labor and for employees whose monthly salary is SGD 2,600 or less.
Employers must also provide payment to eligible employees who are injured at work or die due to an injury sustained at work. Employees in these situations are able to file claims under the Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA) or via Common Law.
For more details on the differences between WICA and Common Law, please visit Singapore's Ministry of Manpower webpage (https://www.mom.gov.sg/workplace-safety-and-health/work-injury-compensation/wica-versus-common-law).
