What are the statutory health insurance benefits in Colombia?

All employees in Colombia must be enrolled in the Colombian Social Security System for Health. Sick leaves are covered by the social security system, provided the employee meets the minimum enrollment period requirements.

It is important to note that the social security system serves as the baseline insurance program in Colombia. Additional private insurance can be obtained on top of this base, but it is not possible to opt out of the social security system in favor of private insurance under any circumstances.
