How long is sick leave in Taiwan, Republic of China?
In Taiwan, supported employees are entitled to two types of sick leave: ordinary sickness leave and occupational sickness leave. For ordinary sickness leave:
- Employees who do not require hospitalization can take up to 30 days of sick leave per year.
- Employees who are hospitalized may take up to one year of sick leave over a period of two years.
- The combined total of sick leave for both hospitalized and non-hospitalized periods cannot exceed one year within a two-year period.
- Employers are required to pay half of the employee’s salary for up to 30 days of ordinary sickness leave each year.
