What is the process for applying for paternity leave in Ghana?

To apply for paternity leave in Ghana, an employee must provide a medical certificate of the birth of their child. This certificate should be issued by either a physician or a midwife.

How is maternity leave payment calculated in Ghana?

In Ghana, maternity leave payment is calculated as follows:

  • The supported employee continues to receive their full salary during the maternity leave period.
  • All the terms and conditions of their employment agreement remain in force throughout the maternity leave.
  • In addition to the full salary, the supported employee also retains all benefits during this period.

This ensures that the supported employee's financial and employment status remains unchanged during their maternity leave.

What is the process for applying for maternity leave in Ghana?

An expectant female supported employee in Ghana must notify the HRx team through the Global Work Platform™ or by sending an email to support@hellopebl.com no later than the end of the 16th week before the expected date of delivery or as soon as is reasonably practicable. The notification should include:

  • Confirmation of the pregnancy.
  • The expected date of delivery, accompanied by a certificate from a registered medical practitioner or midwife.
  • The intended start date of maternity leave.
  • Whether the supported employee’s annual leave entitlement will be taken in addition to the maternity leave.

What are the eligibility rules for paternity leave in Ghana?

A male employee in Ghana is entitled to 5 days of paternity leave. However, it is important to note that the legal amendment regarding this entitlement has not yet been enacted.

How is paternity leave payment calculated in Ghana?
