Health Benefits in Indonesia

What are the statutory health insurance benefits in Indonesia?

In Indonesia, employers are required to provide statutory health insurance benefits through BPJS Kesehatan, which is the national health insurance system managed by the Indonesian government. The coverage includes:

  • The supported employee.
  • One legal spouse.
  • Up to three children, who may be biological children, stepchildren from a legal marriage, or legally adopted children. These children must be unemployed and under 21 years old.

In addition to BPJS Kesehatan, employers may choose to offer supplementary health insurance, although it is not a mandatory requirement in Indonesia. Such supplementary health insurance is commonly provided by employers.
