Health Benefits in Denmark

What are the statutory health benefits in Denmark?

In Denmark, there is no statutory obligation for employers to provide health insurance to their employees. However, Velocity Global Denmark recommends that customers consider offering a health allowance to their supported employees, typically ranging from DKK 1,000 to DKK 3,000 (gross) per month.

Employees in Denmark who spend a regular and significant portion of their working hours at a screen are entitled to specific statutory eye care benefits. These include:

  • The right to an eye and vision examination conducted by an optician or ophthalmologist.
  • The employer covers the cost of this examination, ideally occurring during normal working hours.
  • If the examination determines a need for computer glasses, the employer must cover the cost of at least a standard frame with glasses or standard contact lenses.
