All employees in Chile must be enrolled in the mandatory health system. They have the option to choose either the public or private sector. This enrollment and the associated costs are the responsibility of the employee; the employer does not make contributions toward this mandatory health insurance. However, it is common practice for employers to provide complementary health and/or life insurance.
For eye care benefits, coverage is determined by the supported employee's chosen health system, although many complementary health insurance plans do offer some eye care coverage.
